Due to internal promotion, ProTen currently have a number of opportunities for Assistant Farm Managers and Trainee Farm Managers to join their team, on a full-time basis. Opportunities exist in NSW (Griffith and Taworth), SA (Port Wakefield) and WA (Henderson).

Assistant Farm Manager

Working within one of the 20 farms across Australia, Assistant Farm Managers collaborate with, and provide support to, the Farm Manager by assisting with all of their duties and responsibilities. These include managing the day to day operations within cutting edge, tunnel ventilated broiler bird farms, and providing strong leadership and management to a small team of approximately six to eight staff, in order to ensure best practice broiler bird production.

As the Assistant Farm Manager, your main duties will include:

  • Managing staff in order to enhance farm performance;
  • Resolving staff conflict and disagreements;
  • Liaising with producer company representatives, ensuring positive working relationships are maintained;
  • Using different shed management techniques in order to find optimum bird growing requirements;
  • Maintaining a high level of farm presentation at all times; and
  • Ensuring bio-security, health and safety, environmental and animal welfare procedures are adhered to at all times.

Candidates applying for the Assistant Farm Manager role will need to have at least two years’ experience in supervisory roles within broiler or breeder farms. You’ll be confident in working closely with staff in order to provide guidance and support, and take a collaborative approach as you work alongside the farm manager.

You'll be offered a highly attractive remuneration package valued at $85,000 - $111,000, depending on skills and experience, which includes generous performance based incentives and a fully maintained family home.

Trainee Farm Manager

As a Trainee Farm Manager, you will work closely with the Farm Manager and the Assistant Farm Manager to provide support and develop your skills and knowledge in broiler farm management

Candidates who have a strong interest in the agricultural industry, a driven attitude, and the ability and willingness to learn, are invited to apply for the Trainee Farm Manager role. Industry experience will be highly regarded, however full training will be provided to the right candidates. You'll be ready to take initiative and constantly build on your knowledge through directed and self-directed learning.

You'll be offered a highly attractive remuneration package valued at $50,000 - $60,000, based on skills and experience, which includes generous performance based incentives. These positions are not normally live-in positions initially, however it is our intention to assist you to rapidly develop the necessary skills to take the next step as a live-in Assistant Farm Manager.
