About the Opportunity

Kogarah Community Services now has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join their team in Kogarah, NSW. This fixed-term role is being offered for seven months on a part-time basis of 35 hours per week. Flexibility around days/hours worked is available, and there is potential to arrange some work from home hours.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will be primarily responsible for managing all of the finance and payroll processing tasks for the organisation.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Maintaining the financial records of the organisation to a high standard within required timeframes;
  • Ensuring the financial activities of the organisation are current, accurate, and transparent, and meet reporting standards and requirements of funding bodies, government regulatory bodies and KCS;
  • Providing assistance for all funded projects and other financial activities of KCS;
  • Ensuring accurate input, and coding of purchase invoices across multiple program cost centres into MYOB on a daily basis, meeting GST requirements;
  • Completing payroll on a fortnightly basis, including the complete payment of staff wages and reimbursements, provision of payslips, calculation of staff leave entitlements and termination payments;
  • Lodging Superannuation payments through HESTA Clearing House portal on a monthly basis; and
  • Supporting the KCS Accountant to ensure all financial information and required reporting is current, accessible and presented within required time frames.

About You

Kogarah Community Services is seeking an individual with recognised accounting / bookkeeping qualifications. Competency in the use of MYOB Premier Accounting is essential, as is a clear understanding of financial record keeping and reporting. Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is also required.

The ideal candidate will be software systems savvy, preferably with experience in the use of cloud-based systems as the organisation is moving toward a cloud-based finance system. In addition, it's important you be a quick learner with the ability to pick up a number of software packages related to community care (i.e. aged care, childcare, etc.).

Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - will see you thrive in this role, as will the ability to meet assigned timeframes and reporting requirements.

Please Note: As this role requires some travel for banking and mail, a current manual Driver's License is a requirement of this position.
