About the Opportunity

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) is now seeking an experienced and efficient Accountant to join their team in Canberra, ACT on a 12-month maternity leave contract. This position is offered as part-time (22.5 hours per week), with hours and days negotiated for the right person.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for providing high-quality accounting and reporting services, and managing the day to day running of the procurement and accounts. As part of the Finance Team, you will also be required to assist in the delivery of a wide range of financial services.

Other responsibilities may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Preparation of monthly management reports including trial balance reconciliation and accruals for ANMAC and associated entities.
  • Manage daily financial activities for ANMAC and associated entities.
  • Management and lodgement of documentation associated with the compliance of all statutory accounting, financial and taxation requirements
  • Assist the Finance & Reporting Manager with payroll and budgeting activities as required.
  • Review and development of financial documentation including policies, guidelines, procedures and forms.

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold tertiary qualifications in Accounting and have proven experience with monthly reporting. You must have strong knowledge of accounting principles including accrual accounting, reconciliations and general ledger journals.

The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of cost centre accounting and sound skills using computer applications and databases (including the MS Office Suite) to accomplish tasks.

ANMAC is seeking a candidate with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, effective multitasking and who can work both autonomously and in a team.
