About Spectra Industrial
Spectra are PNG dealers for Hang Cha and Jung Heinrich brands of forklifts, Sany Heavy forklifts and Reach Stackers, and also support Crown Forklifts parts and service. With 90 staff total, head office is based in Lae, with a branch office in Port Moresby. Each branch is supported by its own workshop.
About the Opportunity
Spectra is now seeking an experienced General Manager to join their team and progress the further expansion of the company.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this critical management position will see you responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient execution of the organisation's daily operations, with a firm eye on the company’s growth and development objectives.
This is a hands-on role providing oversight for all aspects of personnel management, training and development, sales and marketing, inventory and credit control, purchasing, sales and marketing, and (of course) operations/workshops.
Key Duties:
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business;
- Leading and directing staff to ensure company objectives regarding safety, sales, profit, stock and cost controls are managed carefully;
- Providing direction and oversight into training and development of staff;
- Playing an active role in the development of relationships with clients, prospects and business cooperators;
- Carefully managing and controlling expenses, with direct involvement in stock controls and margin management; and
- Providing strong oversight and ensuring compliance with all obligations regarding taxation, labour and employment, safety and laws and norms of Papua New Guinea.
What You Need to Succeed
The successful candidate will possess:
- A strong commercial and technical background in equipment hire / sales;
- A mechanical trades background with progression into a management role;
- A significant understanding of common ERP systems;
- Financial acumen, including working knowledge of accounting processes and reporting;
- Excellent communication skills; and
- Importantly, a desire to make a difference in the development of the employees under your care.
