Ngaanyatjarra Media (NG Media) is a thriving Indigenous-owned media organisation that was established in 1992; it produces film and music, together with providing radio broadcast services via 14 radio stations based in remote communities across 250,000km of the Western Desert region of Western Australia.

Programs created in their purpose built media centre are in high demand, and the company has a reputation for being a leader in the use of new platforms and media technologies. NG Media employs over 35 Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who work closely together to share stories across the nation.

About the Opportunity

NG Media now has an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to join their team in the Western Desert region of WA. This is a full-time position, ideally commencing in July 2019.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position is primarily responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the IT systems of the organisation.

More specifically, some of your key deliverables will include:

  • Maintaining office IT systems (Mac + Windows + Unix-based gateway);
  • Maintaining remote media centres (approximately 100 computers);
  • Maintaining broadcasting equipment;
  • Carrying out general day-to-day troubleshooting and office support;
  • Developing interesting IT projects;
  • Overseeing the procurement and deployment of IT equipment to remote communities; and
  • Reporting on current projects. 

About You

The successful candidate will possess experience in a similar IT management capacity, with an interest in radio, film, photography and music.

Ngaanyatjarra Media is looking for a patient and resilient individual, who is motivated and able to perform in an autonomous environment.

Excellent engagement and interpersonal skills will be key in this position, including the ability to effectively communicate in a cross-cultural setting. Knowledge and understanding of political, social and economic factors affecting Aboriginal people would be a huge benefit, along with the ability to live and work in a remote and alcohol-free community.
