About the Opportunity

Moree Plains Shire Council now has an exciting opportunity for a highly organised Executive Assistant to join the Council on a full-time basis in Moree, NSW.

Supporting the Executive Team and reporting directly to the General Manager, this role will see you providing high level support for the General Manager and Mayor, assisting the General Manager in the provision of their statutory responsibilities, and working in partnership with others to achieve annual goals, programs and projects of the Office of the General Manager.

Key duties may also include (but will not be limited to):

  • Acting as a Protected Disclosures Officer as required, under the guidance of the General Manager and Governance Coordinator;
  • Assisting in ensuring compliance of Council's requirements under Integrated Planning and Reporting (IPR) legislation;
  • Supporting the development, production, and delivery of the Community Strategic Plan, operational plan, delivery program, and regularly scheduled reporting activities;
  • Administering the organisation's planning, reporting, and continuous improvement software, including user engagement and support;
  • Ensuring a high level of customer service is provided by the Executive Office on behalf of the General Manager and Mayor, including phone, written and in-person correspondence and reports;
  • Organising and coordinating the General Manager and Mayor's calendars to ensure that schedules, events and deadlines are effectively addressed; and
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of legislation privacy and public information legislation to ensure the records maintained by the General Manager's office are compliant.

About You

To be considered for this position you will ideally have diploma level qualifications in Business Administration or Management, and/or extensive experience in a fast-paced administration environment.

This is a busy, fast paced role that will require the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, while having the flexibility to work outside of office hours as required in order to attend regular meetings, functions, and events.

You will also require highly developed computer skills, with demonstrated experience in the development, production, and delivery of corporate documents and reports. 

While local government experience is not essential, it is highly regarded, as is knowledge or understanding of relevant rules and legislations.

High level communication and conflict resolution skills are crucial, as is the emotional intelligence needed to confidently interact with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be confident in your ability to be assertive but not aggressive as you provide clear, accurate and authoritative advice, reports and recommendations. 

Please Note: You must hold or be willing to obtain a WHS General Construction Induction Card (white card), and be willing to undertake a criminal records check prior to commencement.
