A Rewarding Career Opportunity
Sunrise Health Service is seeking several full-time Remote Area Nurses to join their dedicated multidisciplinary team in Katherine, NT.
These positions are responsible for providing general health care, assessment, and treatment of a broad range of clinical problems to achieve positive outcomes in overall levels of health and well-being within the community.
Your primary responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Working with other members of the Sunrise Primary Health Care team to meet identified needs;
- Providing accident and emergency care, including emergency first aid, stabilisation, and evacuation of patients;
- Assisting with the identification of health trends and gaps in service delivery within the community;
- Supporting the provision of specialist care, including substance abuse, nutritional, and mental health care;
- Consulting with community groups on matters relating to the health needs and cultural approaches of the community;
- Building the capacity of Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) staff to provide the highest possible standard of culturally appropriate health care; and
- Liaising with AHP staff, doctors, and nurses to facilitate tracing and treatment of patients moving between communities, homelands, and out-stations.
The successful candidates must possess the following:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse;
- 5 years primary health care experience and advanced clinical skills;
- Previous experience working within a remote area / with Aboriginal communities;
- Understanding of, and culturally appropriate approach to, cross cultural issues;
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team; and
- Ability to adapt to frequent change within a working environment.
