About the Organisation
Headway ABI Australia Ltd (Headway ABI) is a local, not–for–profit organisation supporting people in the Gold Coast community who have an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). They are a Registered Charity, fully accredited to the Human Services Quality Framework and a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and National Injury Insurance Scheme provider.
People who have serious disabilities following an acquired brain injury, require long term rehabilitation, both physical and neurological, to enable them to return to their community and/or family. Headway ABI provide services and support from day to day assistance to 24/7 supported accommodation.
Headway ABI strives to provide support not only to their service users but also to family, friends and the community. Headway ABI also undertakes fundraising activities in the community to acquire the funds necessary to provide our many service users with supports, which they would otherwise be unable to access.

About the Opportunities
Due to continued growth, Headway ABI Australia Ltd has some fantastic opportunities available for Support workers to join their teams on the Gold Coast, on either a permanent part-time or casual basis.
You will be working with participants in ways that support their health needs and personal goals; assisting them in achieving independence in their daily lives.
The roles will be separated across two areas of the organisation. These include the residential support area and the community support area.
Community support tasks and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assistance in developing independence in daily living activities, including personal care;
- Monitoring and implementing participants plans and achieving chosen goals;
- Drive and support all participants in developing their plans as well as using creative ideas to achieve them;
- Ensuring medication is administered to participants according to the participant and organisational guidelines; and
- Identifying and assisting with tasks in the community that line up with the participant's goals such as independent public transport travel.
Residential support tasks will include the list above as well as the tasks below:
- Regular sleepovers with participants within their homes including some weekend shifts.
- Assisting the transition from hospital to their home.
Please note: This role will require flexibility when it comes to rosters and shifts. It is expected that you will work on a 24/7 roster including overnight stays.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have paid experience in the industry with a minimum Certificate III in Disability or similar with qualifications in nursing, social science or the healthcare industry also suitable.
You will be comfortable using a range of computer software for participant notes, including the use of a tablet to complete time-sheets and other work functions.
You will be able to work autonomously and with a team. You will be a kind and creative individual who loves what they do and is passionate about supporting our clients in reaching new goals and achieving independence.
Reliability and dependability are a MUST in this line of work.
Please Note: You must have or be willing to obtain a Yellow Card before the commencement of the position. Obtaining a blue card is also desirable.
