About the Opportunities

Pegasus Care now have multiple opportunities available for passionate and dedicated Youth Support Workers (Trauma Specialists) to join their team in Campbelltown, NSW. These are casual positions in which you will be able to commit to a regular fortnightly roster with weekend availability. 

Working within a multidisciplinary team of other support workers, you will be responsible for creating a healing environment through the provision of trauma informed care to children and young people residing in crisis/temporary residential care settings, in line with case management and care planning. 

Your key accountabilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing care, support and training in accordance with the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) ACT 1998 and NSW Disability Service Standards;
  • Understanding of the 23 Child Safe Standards and Trauma Informed approaches; 
  • Ensuring all medication administration is undertaken according to legislation and procedure;
  • Promoting a positive image of the Child & Young Person in the community;
  • Encouraging the Child & Young Person to develop independence in personal care, health and hygiene;
  • Ensuring that all services are provided in the least restrictive manner; and
  • Empowering the Child & Young Person to make decisions and participate as an active member of community.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will hold a minimum of a diploma in a Youth, Psychology or Community Services related field.

You must have demonstrated experience working with children and young people in Out of Home Care. 

Due to the nature of the role, you will have experience in working with children and young people in accommodation and with high and complex needs. For this reason, you will need to be empathetic and resilient whilst maintaining assertiveness and confidence in your abilities, as required. As well as maintaining a high-level of self-care. 

Additionally, you need to have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, strong problem-solving skills, crisis management knowledge and intermediate computer competencies. 

Prior to commencement, the successful candidates will hold (or willing to obtain) the following:

  • A current Driver's License;
  • A current First Aid Certificate;
  • A current Working With Children's' Check; and
  • A current National Criminal History Record Check.
