About the Opportunity
Forbes Bros is looking for Civil Foremen to join our teams working on projects in both the Okanagan and in Surrey, BC.
Your responsibilities in this role will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Working from blueprints to layout and execute all types of excavations.
- Supervising the grading, bedding, and backfilling of all types of excavations.
- Assessment and dispatch of required materials to the site.
- Conducting site checks prior to construction.
- Documentation of worksite activities for invoicing, QA and QC purposes.
- Assisting with the preparing of planning and scheduling of crews and/or subcontractors as per the master schedule.
- Completing first calls and arranging permits as part of pre-job planning.
- Performance management of workers.
- Enforcing all safety requirements.
In order to qualify for this role, you will need 5-10 years experience in Utility Civil Construction, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices as they pertain to utility and municipal based civil construction.
- The ability to read and understand IFC and blueprint engineered drawings.
- Experience supervising a small crew on civil projects.
- Minimum of Class 3 Driver's license (preferred) and a clean driver's abstract.
- The ability to operate all types of heavy equipment in a safe and productive manner.
- Supervisory ground disturbance.
- Demonstrated Project Management skills
- Confined space training.
- First Aid training.
Please note that this role requires the successful candidate to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
