About the Opportunities

Western Diagnostic Pathology now has multiple full-time or part-time opportunities available for Anatomical Pathologists or Cytopathologists to join their team in Perth Metropolitan Area, Western Australia. These positions are open to qualified Pathologists of all experience levels.

You will be joining an existing team of nationally recognised Pathologists and work collaboratively within a larger team of dedicated scientific professionals.

You will provide consultant pathology services, which will facilitate the provision of appropriate high quality pathology services to the community served by Western Diagnostic Pathology. This includes a wide range of diagnostic histopathology and cytopathology covering all major organ systems excluding CNS. 

WDP have a busy diagnostic and frozen section service covering breast, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal (biopsy and surgical), gynaecological, musculoskeletal and skin casemix profile serving both public and private hospitals and an outside community referral base. Our cytopathology activities include cervical screening, fluid cytology, superficial and deep organ aspiration (freehand or radiologically-guided), EUS and EBUS, and provide a rapid on-site assessment service (ROSE) at a number of hospital sites. We also participate in multiple multidisciplinary meetings. 

They have a world class gynaepath service (Western Woman's Centre) and strong links with Kossard Dermatopathology with weekly dermatopathology slide review sessions. 

As part of this role, you may also be required to participate in the growth of the laboratory through networking and the attendance of educational events.

About You

To be considered for one of these positions, you will hold specialist Anatomical Pathology qualifications or equivalent (FRCPA) and be eligible for Specialist Registration with AHPRA. RCPA certification is not mandatory, but would be highly regarded. 

Whilst you will ideally experience in a similar role, WDP can support recent graduates and/or someone who is at the end of their studies and looking to transition into the workforce. As such, these positions would be equally suited to either a currently graduating Pathologist wishing to develop their experience in skin pathology, or an experienced skin Pathologist looking to secure stable, long-term employment with a national pathology provider.

As a large volume business, the ability to work a variety of cases at any given time will be critical to your success in this role. With a dual focus on patient care and business growth/referrals, you will be flexible in your approach, comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and have a genuine interest in histopathology and developing a career in this area.
