About IQ Pathology

Established in 2002, IQ Pathology (IQP) is now one of the largest specialised skin laboratories in Australia reporting in excess of 150,000 skin specimens annually.

We provide comprehensive dermatopathology services to dermatologists, plastic surgeons and skin GPs Australia wide.

As a subsidiary of Healius, IQP is part of a larger network of laboratories including QML Pathology, Laverty Pathology, Dorevitch Pathology, Western Diagnostic Pathology and Kossard Dermatopathology. 

In December 2019 IQP made the move to a new, state-of-the-art facility located centrally near the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, 1.5km from the CBD. The new laboratory is light, spacious and open plan, and has dedicated teaching and training facilities including an 18 head microscope and the latest video conferencing technology.

About the Opportunities

Due to ongoing growth, IQ Pathology has multiple full-time positions available for experienced Anatomical Pathologists who have a strong interest in skin.

Joining an existing team of five dedicated Dermatopathologists, you will have access to collaboration and training with our large local and national network of skin pathologists.

Your responsibilities will include providing a broad range of consultant skin pathology services, including the diagnosis of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, benign skin tumours, inflammatory dermatoses, hair and nail pathology, and frozen sections.

You will be involved in registrar and clinician training, supervision of laboratory staff, review and development of laboratory procedures, and quality control. You will also be asked to participate in educational and marketing activities to grow the business.

About You

To be considered for one of these positions, you will hold a specialist Anatomical Pathology qualification (FRCPA) or equivalent recognised in Australia and be eligible for Specialist Registration with AHPRA. 

It is essential that you have demonstrated experience in skin pathology, ideally as part of a private pathology practice. As a high-volume business, the ability to work cases quickly and accurately will be critical to your success in this role.

With a dual focus on patient care and business growth, you must have good communication skills, a knowledge of skin conditions and procedures, be flexible in your approach, be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and have a genuine interest in skin pathology and advancing your career in this area.

IQ Pathology is a specialised dermatopathology laboratory that provides comprehensive dermatopathology services Australia wide. Operating out of state-of-the-art, modern laboratories, IQ Pathology offers patients a personalised service delivered by a hand-picked team of enthusiastic, highly skilled and experienced Anatomical Pathologists. We offer a full range of specialised staining techniques which includes immunoperoxidase stains. This is in addition to immunofluorescence for blistering and autoimmune diseases.

We also provide access to other specialised services including PCR analysis of cutaneous lymphoid infiltrates.
