The Cairns Community Legal Centre is a non-profit, government-funded community organisation, committed to providing accessible legal and social justice services to people in the community experiencing disadvantage.
The Centre extends its services across a range of areas of law including guardianship, administration, domestic violence, peace and good behaviour matters, consumer law, credit, debt, motor vehicle property damage, discrimination and human rights, family law, child protection, and criminal and traffic matters.
This work is provided for a diverse range of clients including people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and those experiencing domestic or family violence, financial difficulties, and homelessness.
About the Opportunity
The Cairns Community Legal Centre now has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis (38 hours per week).
This is a new role, and presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate wanting to pursue a career in administration within a values based organisation.
You will work closely with the Centre's Senior Management Team to provide high quality and professional administrative support.
Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Responding to stakeholder, client, staff and volunteer enquiries
- Assisting with the maintenance of policies, procedures and manuals
- Assisting with WH&S, accreditation and other compliance requirements
- Assisting with payment of accounts
- Assisting with premises and asset maintenance
- Assisting with maintenance of IT systems and equipment
- Diary maintenance, arranging meetings and travel arrangements
- Updating internal spreadsheets, databases, mailing and other lists
- Handling of confidential and sensitive documents to ensure utmost security
- Photocopying, filing, emailing, scheduling, and screening calls.
When required, the Executive Assistant may also be required to to provide backfill support to the Centre's administration workers.

About You
Suitable candidates should have previous experience in administration, reception and/or client services capacity, with the ability to provide high-quality administrative work.
The successful candidate will be an adaptable and agile individual, with the ability to respond to emerging demands. A strong team player, you'll demonstrate respect, have a positive attitude and enthusiastically accept new challenges as they arise. Well developed interpersonal and communication skills will be key to your success in working collaboratively with the Centre Managers, staff and volunteers; as will the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
You will have a sound knowledge of procedural and operational methods of the workplace and high-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel. You will also be capable of solving problems using knowledge acquired through previous experience, and be able to exercise initiative in the application of established work procedures.
