About the Opportunity

Our Client is currently seeking a full-time Civil Litigator to join their team in Canberra

Working closely with Partners and Senior Associates, this role will require you to act on behalf of a range of corporate and individual clients across a variety of areas of civil litigation. These will include corporate/contractual disputes, defamation, building disputes and insolvency matters.

Some of the day to day duties will be:

  • Attending court;
  • Attending mediations and settlement conferences;
  • Drafting court documents;
  • Being especially attentive to our valued clients;
  • Preparing correspondence and briefs to counsel;
  • Running interlocutory applications; and
  • Working with some of Australia's best barristers.

About You

To be considered for the role, you will hold a Bachelor of Laws, and have at least 1-2 years of post-admission experience. The ideal candidate will also possess exceptional analytical and strategic skills, and be confident enough in their judgement to apply those skills dynamically. 

The responsibilities that comprise the role are highly practical and interactive, requiring resilience, candour and the ability to learn quickly and be adaptable. 

Maintaining cultural cohesion is important to the team, so the right fit for this position will have a communication style that balances assertiveness with good humour.
