About the Opportunity

Due to ongoing growth, RKF ES now has a full-time secondment opportunity based in Mackay for a Civil/Structural Engineer. This role will initially be offered as a 12-month contract, with potential for extension into a full-time permanent position at the end of that period. 

As part of the RKF ES Design Team, you will be fully supported in this role as you deliver unique, technical engineering solutions to our client. As well as conducting advanced method structural analysis, you will conduct site inspections, audits, and physical testing of structures in varying conditions. You will also work with the client to manage the maintenance and operation of their assets. This will include developing remediation designs for degrading structural components and elements. 

On a day-to-day basis your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Undertaking detailed site condition audits and investigations into steel and concrete structures;
  • Preparing and analysing detailed company reports including structural investigations, concrete and steel condition audits and relevant repair strategies;
  • Managing the engagement and performance of external contractors and suppliers;
  • Expanding RKF ES’ presence through effective stakeholder management;
  • Managing ongoing critical projects with a key focus on safety and quality; and
  • Undertaking structural design including computer-based analysis of mining/marine/transport infrastructure structures with concrete and steelwork.

About You

To be considered for the position you will hold tertiary qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering, with at least 5 years experience in site management, concrete, construction, corrosion or design. You must also hold or be working towards your Chartered Professional Engineering status, and have a solid understanding of/experience working on major construction projects, with at least a portion of your experience gained within either the mining or marine sectors.

Any experience using structural analysis software packages such as SpaceGass and Strand7 and/or working with yard machine tracks will be highly regarded.

You will be comfortable conducting site investigations, condition assessments and writing technical reports and be willing/able to travel for site inspections as required.

Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a sense of pride in your work will be essential, as you will be working autonomously with support from other offices.
