About the Opportunity

Superior Care Group currently has a fantastic opportunity for a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join their Merrimac team as Head of Hotel Services on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Centre Manager, this is a customer-focused role that will see you leading the day-to-day operations of the facility's catering, laundry & cleaning services, managing approximately 23 hotel services employees.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):

  • Talking with residents, problem-solving any issues, running focus-groups and noting individual preferences;
  • Coordinating all aspects of the resident experience, ensuring meals, furniture, decorations are of a high standard;
  • Ensuring the residence meets all relevant standards and legislative requirements, including Food Safety accreditation;
  • Establishing and maintaining a review system to confirm service quality, ensuring food is restaurant-quality and room cleaning/repainting is immaculate;
  • Conducting Human Resources duties as they relate to Hotel Services staff, including rostering and conducting training or performance reviews; and
  • Monitoring resource allocation at approved levels, ordering stock, coordinating preventative or reactive maintenance, and adhering to budget expectations.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be passionate, well-presented and genuinely friendly, with strong communication skills and the ability to understand, relate to, and improve each resident's experience.

Prior management experience will be essential, and you will have a demonstrated background in a relevant hotel services role. Chef or cooking qualifications will be highly regarded, but are not essential.

You'll have an in-depth understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards, with knowledge or experience in the Accreditation process advantageous.

Importantly, you'll be a natural problem-solver, passionate about constantly improving on services, and able to use your initiative, creativity and organisational skills to get this done.

This is not a desk job, you'll be constantly moving around, checking meals, and ensuring that staff are going above and beyond for residents whenever possible. Superior Care is committed to providing this high-quality service, and you will be just as dedicated to ensuring everything is well-polished, regularly catching up with residents to ensure their experience is meeting 'hotel, not motel' service standards.
