About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth, inTouch currently has multiple ongoing or fixed term opportunities looking for passionate and experienced individuals to join their team as Family Violence Case Workers (Female Identified). Based in Melbourne, working across their Richmond and Dandenong locations, there are full-time and part-time roles on offer.

Reporting to the Team Leader - Client Services, you will be responsible for supporting and managing clients experiencing family violence throughout the life cycle of their engagement with inTouch.

Some of your key duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Under the MARAM framework and InTouch policies and procedures, provide culturally tailored responses to victim survivors from migrant and refugee backgrounds;
  • Assessing, monitoring, planning and managing cases, and advocating for and linking women experiencing family violence to appropriate services;
  • Working closely with staff from other agencies to ensure the clients' needs are addressed in an integrated and coordinated manner; and
  • Due to the geographic dispersion of clients, travelling to other areas to personally support them at courts, outposts etc. as required.

COVID-19 Update: In light of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Melbourne and greater Victoria, inTouch have implemented processes to assist all staff operate safely and effectively, with a mixture of both home and office-based work being undertaken where possible.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must have demonstrated experience in the family violence sector (minimum 2 years) and/or hold tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Development or a closely related discipline.

While not essential, any experience in the not-for-profit sector, will be seen as highly desirable.

An experienced professional, you will have a demonstrated understanding of the complex issues and challenges involved in working with and supporting women and children from multicultural backgrounds who are experiencing family violence, in order to meet their identified goals.

To facilitate communication with people from a variety of backgrounds, the successful candidate will have proficient English skills, and fluent in one other language. Preferred languages include Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Dara, Cantonese, or Mandarin. However, InTouch also encourages applications from professionals who are fluent in other languages.

You will have sound knowledge of policies and legislation relevant to working with survivors of family violence as well as demonstrated contemporary knowledge of crisis intervention. Your ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated team across the entire spectrum of case management, include intake, court outreach etc., will be critical to your sustained success within the role.

An engaging and authentic communicator, you will be able to build strong, positive relationships with a wide variety of both internal and external stakeholders. Comfortable navigating sensitive situations or conversations, you will have the flexibility needed to adapt your approach to each individual, able to relate to and communicate with people from all walks of life and a variety of cultures. 

Finally, you will be a firm believer in innovation and continuous improvement, genuinely passionate about social justice, and committed to supporting migrant or refugee women and children. You will have an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, specifically in the context of multicultural communities, and be committed to working within an intersectional feminist framework.

Please note: You will need to hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Victorian Driver's License, Working with Children check, and National Criminal History check.
