About the Opportunity

The Shire of Halls Creek has an opportunity for an energetic and vibrant Aquatic and Recreation Centre Manager to join their team on a full time basis. Reporting to the Director of Youth and Community Development, you will be responsible for the management of day to day operations of the aquatic and recreational centre, as well as maintaining an impeccable standard of customer service and safety within the centre.

More specifically, your duties will include, but are not limited to;

  • Planning, managing and promoting the development of the Halls Creek Aquatic and Recreation Centre;
  • To ensure the recreation centre is a safe, healthy and pleasant environment for customers and staff;
  • To ensure that the standards of the water, the pool and the centre meet all Health Department Standards, including managing the monitoring and upkeep of the pool;
  • Managing daily cash takings, financial operations, stock management and preparing and managing the annual budget;
  • To ensure the centre is well kept and maintained to the highest standards;
  • Assist in staff recruiting, as well as provide day-to-day training and mentoring, and;
  • To lead and manage the staff of the aquatic centre.

About You 

The successful applicant will have experience in a similar role, with demonstrated experience in staff supervision and centre management. They will have sound knowledge of relevant legislation regarding the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and water chemistry tests as well as the safety procedures in regards to handling hazardous chemicals that relate to these processes, emergency procedures, workplace safety and an understanding of First Aid and Rescue techniques.

They will also be well equipped to communicate and work with Aboriginal people, ensuring culturally sound practice is carried out to the highest standard. They will possess a Pool Manager’s Competency Certificate, a current Pool Lifeguard Certificate, a current Bronze Medallion Certificate, a current Senior First Aid Certificate, a current Oxygen Resuscitation Certificate and a current SCBA Certificate.
