About the Opportunity

SHDH now has an exciting opportunity for a full-time AHPRA registered Dental Prosthetist to join their progressive Medical Centre on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Clinic Coordinator, the Dental Prosthetist is responsible for the construction and repairing of technical appliances such as mouth guards, full, partial acrylic and cast metal frame dentures. The Dental Prosthetist deals directly with the patient from the initial examination right through to the final adjustments of the new prosthesis.

Enjoy the autonomy of choosing how your appointments are structured with a split between appointments and lab work, and fantastic Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm working hours. An integral position in a busy clinic, you will enjoy the support of the dental team and a contracted prosthetist in clinic 2 days a week.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Establish patient’s needs by competent oral examination of their condition, plan required treatment and take impressions and other clinical records as necessary in accordance with DHSV clinical standards and policies.
  • Fit new or repaired prosthesis to patient and adjust as necessary to ensure it is accurately adapted to the patient’s mouth to maximise comfort.
  • Educate patient on how best to care for their dentures or other prosthesis, and when an adjustment or replacement is needed.
  • Liaise with Dental Officers other health care professionals in pre-surgical planning and in the formulation of prescriptions for prosthesis.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in a dental prosthetist role, with demonstrated experience in managing your own work load.

You will have a current dental qualification eligible for AHPRA registration as a Dental Prosthetist and demonstrated experience and skill in a wide range of dental assessment, procedures, treatments, technical work and activities for patients requiring prosthesis.

The successful candidate will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with patients from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and patients from various age groups. A true team player, you will be able to work within a tight knit team and be excited to positively contribute to the community.

Great time management, the ability to navigate conflicting priorities and work independently are integral to succeed in this role.
