Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation

Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation is the largest and oldest Aboriginal resource agency in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established by traditional land owners, its primary aim is to support the Fitzroy Crossing people in developing strong and sustainable communities and organisations.

Marra Worra Worra works with the Bunuba, Gooniyandi, Wangkatjungka, Walmajarri and Nyikina people, and provides a number of support services in the areas of housing, employment, community development and other elements connected to self determination. 

With approximately 100 staff and 650 registered members, Marra Worra Worra provides a forum for the people of the region to discuss and act on issues of common concern.

About the Opportunity

Marra Worra Worra is currently looking for a full-time Community Development Program (CDP) Project Coordinator to join their team in Fitzroy Crossing, WA.

Reporting to the CDP Regional Manager, you'll be leading the strategic planning and project management of a broad range of vocational and non-vocational ‘Work for the Dole’ activities for members of the local area. You'll spend part of most days out in the community, hands-on in setting up and running activities, and providing support to your team.

More specifically, your key focus areas will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Ensuring all activities meet identified community or individual job seeker needs, building skills for local labour market opportunities;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships within the community, local organisations, businesses, and other key stakeholders;
  • Maintaining a high level of compliance with all performance, contractual and funding requirements and guidelines;
  • Leading and motivating the field-based activity staff, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge to deliver high-quality work; and
  • Completing risk assessments for each activity, ensuring all steps are taken to ensure the safety, health and welfare of staff and participants.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrated project management experience, with an understanding of project management principles and the lifecycle of projects. Experience with CDP activities or projects would be highly regarded, though not essential.

Not afraid to get your hands dirty, you'll be confident leading from the front, mentoring a culturally diverse team to deliver quality results for the organisation and the participants. 

It's crucial that you're a strong communicator, able to build trust and rapport with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Your negotiation and conflict management skills, along with your ability to maintain an open, collaborative culture will be essential to your success in the role.

Importantly, you will have a genuine respect for Aboriginal cultures, with an understanding of responsive ways of working with Aboriginal Clients, Staff and Communities.

Please note: You will be required to hold a current Class C Australian driver's licence and provide a national Police Certificate prior to commencing employment.
