About the Organisation
Danila Dilba Health Service is a community-managed organisation providing free comprehensive primary health care services to Biluru communities in the Yilli Rreung Region of the Northern Territory. Danila Dilba is an all Biluru Governing Committee, whose members are chosen by the community, governs the organisation. Services are coordinated from the Main, Palmerston and Mens clinics as well as the ESWB Centre and Youth Service.
Danila Dilba Health Service Primary Health Care services are funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health, NT Government and FaHCSIA.
About the Opportunity
The Danila Dilba Health Service is currently seeking two General Practitioners to join their multidisciplinary team of dedicated health professionals.
Based in either the Darwin or Palmerston Clinic, you will provide optimum primary healthcare to the surrounding community, undertaking chronic disease management and child and adult health checks as required.
Additionally, by joining a team-focused practice, you will be given the opportunity to assist the professional development of GP registrars, medical students and Aboriginal Health Workers.
Danila Dilba Health Service offers a stable, safe and supportive work environment with plenty of challenges and variety as you interact with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.
The successful candidates will be fully qualified and must currently be registered, or eligible for registration, within the Northern Territory. Postgraduate qualifications will be a distinct advantage, but are not essential.
In addition, you will have a well-developed understanding of Medicare, with the ability to ensure all claims are correctly completed and submitted. The ability to plan and organise your own workload in a busy environment, while working efficiently as part of a team, will also be key assets for these roles.
A current driver's licence, medical indemnity insurance, and the willingness to undertake a police check is essential. A current first aid certification will also be required, or the preparedness to gain one prior to commencing employment.
Importantly, you will be committed to providing culturally sensitive healthcare and demonstrate an interest in working closely with Aboriginal communities, to understand their health issues and work with them to find solutions.
Relocation costs will be negotiated with the successful applicant, and there is also the option for subsidised housing, considerably increasing your take home pay.
