About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a AHPRA registered Remote Area Nurse to join the Pintupi Homeland Health Service team in Kintore, NT on a 12-month contract likely to extend.

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, you will work as part of the PHHS clinical team delivering a comprehensive approach to primary health and integrated emergency care.

Working primarily out of the community clinic with at-home visits as required, your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Utilisation of patient electronic information and management system;
  • Treatment of acute illness;
  • 24/7 Emergency care (on an alternating 3-day roster);
  • Antenatal and post-natal care;
  • Child health care;
  • Child and adult immunisations;
  • Well person screening;
  • Management of chronic disease; and
  • Sexual health.

About You

To be successful, you will be currently registered with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and have demonstrated post-graduate experience in the delivery of comprehensive primary health care, including emergency care.

You'll have a solid understanding of cultural safety and a commitment to the principles of Aboriginal community controlled health services. Any experience working in remote areas or with Aboriginal communities will be highly regarded, as will experience in paediatric care.

You'll have solid understanding of good clinical practice and rural/remote health care, with demonstrated experience in a wide range of practical nursing duties and procedures, as well as knowledge of relevant legislation that governs nursing practice.

Importantly, you'll be a collaborative team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt your communication style to work effectively with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.

Please Note: A current manual Driver's Licence, OCHRE Card and a criminal history check will be required prior to commencing in this role.

About the Organisation

Pintupi Homelands Health Service is an expanding and well equipped AGPAL accredited primary healthcare facility located in Kintore. Servicing a close knit community of 450, the health service provides clinical services with a dedicated staff of nurses, health promotion officers, Aboriginal Health Workers, a doctor and support staff.

Emphasis is being placed on preventive health and community involvement in a commitment "to close the gap" and improve the health and well-being of the Kintore community.

About Kintore

Kintore is located in the Northern Territory, some 530 kilometres west of Alice Springs. This remote part of Outback Australia is truly beautiful and is a popular tourist destination for 4WD and trekking enthusiasts.
