About the Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quarry Manager to join and lead our team at Seelander Quarries, managing the day-to-day operations of the business and working in collaboration with the Executive Leadership team to achieve broader strategic goals and growth initiatives. 

This opportunity will allow you to take real ownership and pride in your work as you strive to grow the business, maintain a safe working environment and mentor current and incoming team members to achieve great outcomes for the company. 

The role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is involved in all aspects of the business, including, safety, production, budgets, growth, and P&L control. 

Core duties:

  • Ensure a safe work environment in accordance with all applicable WHS legislation;
  • Adhere to all environmental compliance aspects listed on the sites license;
  • Monitor product quality to agreed specifications and promote continuous improvement;
  • Manage production cycles that efficiently maintain consistency of supply;
  • Develop preventive & predictive maintenance schedules aligned with CAPEX & OPEX budgets; and
  • Mentor staff to provide a learning culture that includes succession planning and cross-training objectives.

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in a similar role within a quarry/mining environment, and hold a current Quarry Manager's certificate of competency.

Strong management skills, demonstrated production planning experience, and creative problem-solving skills will be key to your success in this role. Likewise, the preferred candidate will have solid business acumen and strong interpersonal skills, including relationship building and an understanding of industrial relations.

As you will be overseeing all aspects of the quarry, it is vital that you are able to multi-task, including assisting and relieving in operations, prioritise effectively whilst ensuring product quality and client requirements are being met.

Strong computer skills and experience in maintenance planning and management reporting will also be valuable, and help you hit the ground running in your new role. 

In addition, your ability to lead a small team and clearly communicate requirements and direction is crucial. 

Most importantly, you thrive in a role where you can really add value and ensure smooth operations of the quarry.
