About the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMAC) is a not-for- profit organisation established in 2010 as an external accreditation entity by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

ANMAC helps protect the health and safety of the Australian Community through its role in:

  • Assessing and accrediting nursing and midwifery education programs under Australia's National Registration and Accreditation Scheme; and
  • Acting as the independent assessing authority authorised by the Department of Home Affairs to assess skills and qualifications of nurses and midwives seeking to migrate to Australia under the General Skilled Migration Program.

ANMAC also provides executive and secretariat support to the Australian Osteopathic Accreditation Council (AOAC) and to Health Education Services Australia (HESA) which provides services to the health education sector.

About the Opportunity

ANMAC has an opportunity for a Marketing Communications & Events Officer to join their team in Canberra, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the CEO in developing, delivering and overseeing ANMAC, AOAC and HESA’s communications and engagement strategies, including through the use of digital and traditional media.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Developing and delivering consistent, effective and professional communications, marketing and engagement strategies for ANMAC, AOAC and HESA;
  • Working with the CEO to identify media opportunities and write media releases;
  • Managing the organisations social media presence, including overseeing content creation;
  • Providing advice to the organisation's staff on communications and media matters, appropriate communication strategies, activities and tools; and
  • Producing effective speeches, digital content and other marketing and communication materials across a range of media and for a range of audiences.

About You

To be considered for this position you must have a Tertiary Qualification in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or other related discipline combined with 3-5 years of experience. Possessing previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or the health industry is considered highly desirable.

You will require a thorough understanding of current trends and best practice within the marketing and communications field in conjunction with comprehensive knowledge of traditional marketing theory. This will allow you to thrive and produce engaging content across both digital and print mediums.

High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to effectively liaise with others, exercise sound judgment and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders will also be a crucial aspect of the role.
