Hanson now has several exciting opportunities for female truck drivers to join their team in Melbourne, VIC.

This is a rare offering for women to get their foot in the door of the transport industry. Hanson is offering a high-quality heavy vehicle licensing program to encourage increased levels of gender diversity within their Driver workforce.

The five-week course will take place at Laverton, training course will blend both classroom and practical, hands-on driving training elements. After you complete the course, roles will be available in the following locations:

  • Laverton North
  • Port Melbourne
  • Collingwood
  • Werribee
  • Melton
  • Epping
  • Westall
  • Dandenong

Please also note that Hanson drivers are generally unaffected by lockdown orders.

Is this the role for you?

Hanson is looking for women who are confident, and excited to take on a new challenge. No truck driving experience or truck licenses are required for this position, as full training will be provided. However, here is what you will need to be considered:

  • To have held an Australian Driver's License for a minimum of 2 years (automatic or manual)
  • To be able to pass a pre-employment commercial driver medical which includes a drug test
  • To be able to meet the VicRoads criteria for licensing which includes signing a declaration about medication, interlock devices and outstanding fines or disqualifications

You will need to be someone with the ability to cope with pressure and setbacks, and remain calm and optimistic during challenging situations. When driving, circumstances will sometimes change without notice, and the best drivers are able to take these changes in their stride and respond rationally. 

You will also be a safety and procedures focused individual, with great time management skills and the ability to follow instructions, regulations, and legal obligations. 

Lastly, you will be able to build strong working relationships with others, communicate in a friendly way, and provide customers with a high level of customer service when visiting sites.
