The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is an intergovernmental organisation working to strengthen national capacity and regional solidarity so Pacific nations can manage, control, and develop their tuna fisheries now and in the future.

Based in Honiara, Solomon Islands, our agency comprises 17 member nations, including Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Since 1979, we have facilitated regional cooperation so that all Pacific countries benefit from the sustainable use of tuna – worth over USD $3 billion a year and important for many people's livelihoods in the Pacific.

We are now looking for a Manager Human Resources to join our team on a Fixed-Term 3-year contract with an option for another term subject to performance. In this role, you will work with a group of professionals to drive the organisational culture and cultivate an innovative and performance-driven team within FFA.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, your primary responsibility is to provide strategic and operational advice to the Executives and Management team.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide effective and efficient Strategic Human Resources Advice to Executive and Directors on a range of HR-related functional areas;
  • Effectively lead and coordinate the development and review of HR policies and processes;
  • Provide effective leadership, oversight and management of HR team functions;
  • Effectively manage HR Operations; and
  • Employee relations.

What you bring to the team

We are looking for a dedicated and pragmatic individual who holds a University Degree in Human Resources Management and at least 10 years of experience in HR with 7 years as Manager Human Resources, ideally in an international or regional organisation. It is also essential that you have a strong understanding of regional employment regulations and practices.

Your approachability and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills will ensure you can build strong working relationships with staff of all levels in our organisation. These skills, alongside honesty and transparency, will allow you to effectively lead and manage the HR team and give you the ability to be a mentor and a coach to the broader organisational team.

Moreover, you will be a strong problem-solver with excellent planning and organisational skills.

You will receive a competitive salary package circa US$91,197 – $126,659 (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), commensurate with your skills and experience.

This includes superannuation, paid at 7.5% into either a nominated fund or an additional cash supplement. We reimburse all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and your dependents. Insurance coverage is also available for personal accidents, life, medical & repatriation.

Education for dependent children is reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (Conditions apply). If your dependent child is studying overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once a year.

Relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara and accommodation assistance also available.
