The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is an intergovernmental organisation working to strengthen national capacity and regional solidarity so Pacific nations can manage, control, and develop their tuna fisheries now and in the future.

Based in Honiara, Solomon Islands, our agency comprises 17 member nations, including Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Since 1979, we have facilitated regional cooperation so that all Pacific countries benefit from the sustainable use of tuna – worth over USD $3 billion a year and important for many people's livelihoods in the Pacific.

We are now looking for a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team on a Fixed-Term 3-year contract with an option to renew for another term based on performance. In this role, you will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals and deliver a wide range of HR functions and responsibilities within FFA.

What’s on offer

In this role, you will be second-in-command and work alongside the Manager Human Resources to implement and supervise HR services into the broader organisation. Some of the HR areas you will be working on include recruitment, contract management, HR project planning and reporting, and special projects. In this role, you will be 2IC to the Manager Human Resources, with days where you will be required to step up into the Manager Human Resources role. 

Key accountabilities:

  • Contract management, filing and HRIS;
  • Recruitment and selection;
  • Job analysis and evaluations;
  • Planning and reporting;
  • Deputise for the Manager Human Resources when required; and
  • Undertake HR unit projects.

What you bring to the team

We are looking for a dedicated and pragmatic individual who holds a University Degree in Human Resources Management and at least five years of experience delivering HR services. You will also have demonstrated experience with all facets of recruitment and selection processes.

It is essential that you are an active team player who can provide direct support and coaching to the HR Officer and HR Assistants.

To be successful, you will be an approachable and trustworthy individual who can support and bring together both international and local staff while encouraging and nurturing the team's talent. Also key will be highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders of all levels.

Moreover, you will be a detailed-oriented individual with excellent organisational skills.

You will receive a competitive salary package circa US$79,992 – $111,675 (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), commensurate with your skills and experience.

This includes superannuation, paid at 7.5% into either a nominated fund or an additional cash supplement. We reimburse all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and your dependents. Insurance coverage is also available for personal accidents, life, medical & repatriation.

Education for dependent children is reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (Conditions apply). If your dependent child is studying overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once a year.

Relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara and accommodation assistance also available.
