Kimberley Pharmacy Services has proudly served the Kimberley region across Broome, Derby and Fitzroy Valley for several years. 

With a strong community focus and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary health care, we provide pharmacy services to individuals and their families and local hospitals and Aboriginal Medical Services across the Kimberley Region.

A genuinely unique pharmacy program

We are now offering a unique experience for Early Career Pharmacists to join our supportive and experienced team as part of our structured 2 Year Residency Program on a full-time basis. You can choose to start between March and the end of 2022. You will be working with passionate individuals dedicated to making a tangible impact on the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager and other Senior Pharmacists, you will assist in running our community, clinical and outreach services with a strong focus on patient education, access to medicines, clinical reviews and culturally appropriate medication management services.

For the first six months of the program, you will work out of Broome before joining a rotational experience at several pharmacies (community, clinical and outreach Aboriginal Health Services) throughout the region.

What you will bring to the team

To be successful, you will be a qualified Pharmacist currently registered or in the process of completing your registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA). 

We are looking for individuals with the following skills and abilities:

  • Adaptability and flexibility in your approach
  • Genuine interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
  • Empathy and the ability to be understanding of people's health circumstances
  • The ability to work with multi-cultural team members and patients

You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills and practical time management skills. Moreover, you will need to demonstrate a commitment to patient education and be willing to engage with patients/customers to deliver it respectfully. 

Please Note: To be considered for this position, you must have an Australian Drivers Licence.

We are excited to help the successful candidates become rural generalists by commencing the allied health rural generalist pathway. 

As part of this position, you will participate in the AHRG pathway. You will get paid to complete the Level 2 (Graduate Diploma) education with James Cook University.

This opportunity is a work-integrated learning program – you will be provided with time at work for study and dedicated structured supervision and support. Finally, you will have the opportunity to participate in service development projects led by senior team members.
