The Association of Independent Schools of the Northern Territory (AISNT) was formed in 1989 to represent and promote the diverse interests of Independent Schools in the Northern Territory.

AISNT are dedicated to the care and development of our young people. There are 20 Independent Schools across the Northern Territory. The independent sector is the Northern Territory’s second largest and fastest growing educational sector. It has the highest rate of NTCET completions, and serves a vast number of very satisfied families. AISNT has strong National and Global connections with renowned educators and organisations. 

About Opportunity

AISNT has a rewarding opportunity for a full-time Deputy Director to join their hardworking and passionate team in Darwin.

Reporting to the Executive Director, your main responsibility is to assist the Executive Director in the management of the affairs of the Association including the implementation of the policies of the company as determined by the company’s board.

Some of your key responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure that proper accounts are kept as per the requirements of the relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Manage the accountability for the requirements of all contracts and deeds of funding provided by the Australian Government, Northern Territory Government and any other relevant funding departments or organisations.
  • Represent and advocate the Company’s position on behalf of its member schools on relevant Statutory Boards, Boards, Advisory Groups, Committees and Working Groups.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have a tertiary qualification in education, and significant proven experience as a school principal. You will also need to have impeccable organisational and administrative skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and effective leadership skills.

Being proactive and being able to research data and facts are key to success as this role is heavily involved with writing grants and advocating for independent schools at both a state and federal government level.

You will also be required to have a deep understanding of the independent school system, as well as skills and experience in strategic policy development and crisis management.
