Della dale Aged Care is a small, family owned, 30-bed permanent residential aged care home. Della Dale caters for all levels of care ranging from needs that are low to those that are highly complex.
Della Dale believes in letting those in their care 'Age in place' and manages a range of medical and psychiatric issues, including dementia. About the Opportunity
Della Dale now has an exciting opportunity for Personal Care Assistants to join the team on a part-time basis in Ringwood, Vic. Reporting to the Registered Nurse or Emergency Nurse on duty you will be primarily responsible for assisting with personal care activities and lifestyle activities and programs, placing a high emphasis on not just care duties, but providing companionship.
More specifically, your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to);
- Assisting with personal duties such showering etc;
- Administering medications to consumers;
- Providing companionship and company to consumers; and
- Following the directions of the EN or RN on duty;
About You
The successful applicant will have a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) in addition to the ability to administer medication and at least six months experience in a similar role. It is also essential that you already have or are at least booked in to have your first COVID vaccine before commencement of employment.
In addition, it is highly important that you are a courteous and honest individual who is willing to take on the responsibility of the role. You will also need to have a high level of patience and understanding in what can sometimes be a high pressure or stressful environment. This high level of patience and understanding goes hand in hand with well developed communication skills, allowing you to effectively work with fellow staff and consumers. It is important to consider that applicants who can speak either Greek, Italian or French will be at a distinct advantage, however this is not an essential requirement.
Candidates should also have knowledge of the following areas;
- ACFI documentation
- Serious Incident Reporting Scheme (SIRS)
- Basic OH&S principles
- Basic infection control principles
