About the Opportunity

WoodWool Australia now has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to join their small but dedicated team. This is a full-time salaried position, incorporating hands-on functions in the factory as well as strategic and administrative functions in the office.

This varied and highly autonomous role will see you managing all aspects of their wood wool timber production together with all the associated warehousing and distribution activities. You will also be strategically and operationally involved in the ongoing growth and development of the business as a whole.

Core duties: 

  • Manage, plan, and lead effective and safe day-to-day factory and milling operations incorporating all physical and human resources
  • Manage, operate, and maintain all equipment and machinery, including developing and overseeing maintenance schedules and repairs 
  • Formulate, develop, and implement legally compliant WHS policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain a positive, respectful, motivated, and collaborative workforce through proven effective supervision, interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Contribute to the strategic initiatives and ongoing growth and profitability of the company in collaboration with the Managing Director

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have proven hands-on day-to-day management experience in the timber manufacturing industry. You will also have experience with productivity, quality control, processes & procedures, warehousing, dispatch and WHS compliance.

You will have significant experience in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting a wide variety of machinery, together with a demonstrated ability in continuous improvement of operating processes and procedures.

Timber mill experience is a must, as this role will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing of WoodWool Australia's primary product, and will require hands-on skills and duties. 

You will need a high degree of computer literacy including the ability to create reports and analyse data.

Importantly, WoodWool Australia is looking for someone with great communication skills and an exceptional level of pride in the outcomes they deliver and the results they achieve.

Please note: this role also requires the following:

  • Current Forklift Licence
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
