About the Organisation
Gulf Savannah Development is an incorporated not for profit organisation focused on the economic development of the Gulf Savannah Region. GSD is a dual level organisation. A Board comprising two Local Governments being Burke and Carpentaria Shires as well as Corporate and Business representatives. The Board provides governance and operational oversight and works with the CEO to progress the aims and ambitions of the organisation. GSD also offers membership to a wide range of stakeholders, small, medium and large, whose ethos aligns with their vision and who have a vested interest in collaborating and cooperating to ensure the Southern Gulf region realises its very real potential.·

About the Opportunity
Gulf Savannah Development (GSD) has a challenging, but rewarding, full time fixed-term opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer to provide strategic and collaborative leadership in achieving the organisation's goals and vision.
Reporting to the GSD Board, you will be responsible for reinvigorating the organisation, with organisational support, while exercising overall management responsibility for the formulation, then implementation of the Gulf Savannah Development Business Plan. In addition, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the operational and administrative functions of the GSD.
You will also be responsible for providing greater visibility to the members of the community and wider stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Promoting the Gulf Savannah region at all levels of Government, Commerce and Industry;
- Growing and strengthening the membership base;
- Developing and maintaining a collaborative and connected relationship with Board members as well as interaction with the wider membership;
- Adopting a strategic approach for all aspects of regional development including regional investment, business development, social and cultural infrastructure;
- Managing the development, implementation and reporting requirements associated with the GSD Business Plan;
- Preparing, submitting and the subsequent acquittals of funding proposals;
- Representing and promoting the GSD as an innovative, dynamic organisation; and
- Day to day management of the operational and administrative functions of the organisation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Management, Business, Public Sector Administration (or similar) coupled with strong experience in senior or executive level positions.
While your qualifications and experience will be important to your success, more important will be your ability to successfully build new, and strengthen existing, relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including State and Federal Government officials, industry representatives and the GSD Board.
GSD is looking for a highly collaborative leader who can hit the ground running. You will be highly analytical and have the demonstrated ability to provide high level, best practice strategic advice as you facilitate positive outcomes for all relevant stakeholders. You will possess the ability to work autonomously as well as be an effective problem solver. In addition, you'll be an active listener as well a persuasive and effective negotiator which will ensure your ability to find common ground among a diverse range of stakeholders. You'll also have strong written and verbal communication skills allowing you to not only effectively communicate, but also read other people. The successful candidate will also have a commanding presence, allowing them to successfully capture a room. It is also imperative that you have a proven track record of submitting successful funding proposals and preparing budget reports.
Computer literacy including experience using the MS Office suite of applications is also essential.
