About the Organisation

The Central Land Council (CLC) is the Commonwealth Government statutory authority for the southern half of the Northern Territory - covering an area of almost 770,000 square kilometres. The Council consists of 90 elected Aboriginal representatives, from the communities within CLC's 9 regions, and an additional 260 staff, approximately half of which are Aboriginal.

Together, they are responsible for providing a voice for the Aboriginal people of Central Australia, helping them to manage their land and protect traditional culture and sacred sites. CLC consults with landowners on mining activity, employment, development and other land use proposals whilst fighting for legal recognition of Aboriginal people's rights.
