About the Opportunity
Arrow Energy is seeking a Tenement Manager to join its team in Brisbane.
The primary purpose of this role is to maintain Arrow's portfolio of tenements, which constitute the most fundamental and valuable resource that the company holds.
Proper execution of the role demands ownership and management of all statutory, regulatory and/or commercial obligations arising as a consequence of holding, or seeking to hold, petroleum or mineral tenure. The Tenement Manager must ensure that these obligations are satisfied in an orderly, timely and professional manner, and that any threats or opportunities to tenure are dealt with appropriately.
The role requires effective and professional interaction with multiple stakeholders, including Government authorities, overlapping tenure holders, joint venture parties, landowners, legal personnel, industry representative bodies (e.g APPEA) and commercial associates (e.g farm-in partners).
Reporting to the General Manager Exploration, your key duties of the role will include:
Statutory Compliance
- Compiling and maintaining Company systems and/or database to manage statutory commitments and obligations arising from legislation or any other form of guidance, or direction issued by Government or Government entities;
- Maintaining knowledge of amendments to legislation that affect tenement application, management and retention;
- Managing, directing or assisting administrative matters (e.g correspondence, fees and reports to Government) concerning petroleum or mineral tenures held by Arrow Energy and its subsidiary companies;
- Maintaining a register of communication with government bodies;
- Providing assistance in the identification and management of safety, environmental, cultural heritage and native title matters as they apply to tenure (or vice versa);
- Monitoring and/or auditing general compliance by the Company with legislation relating to the tenure of exploration and production tenements;
- Assisting and/or advising Company personnel in matters concerning statutory compliance;
- Providing training and awareness of statutory compliance issues to Company personnel;
Commercial Agreements
- Compiling and maintaining a system and/or database of commitments and/or obligations assumed by the Company as part of commercial agreements with joint venture partners, other companies, landholders, native title claimants, and any other stakeholders;
- Maintaining knowledge of changes to commitments arising from commercial agreements;
- Managing, directing or assisting in administrative matters (e.g correspondence, reports, notices) concerning Commercial Agreements;
- Maintaining a register of communication with all parties deriving any form of commercial interest or benefit linked to Arrow tenements;
- Liaising with relevant Company personnel to ensure awareness and compliance with commitments arising from commercial agreements;
- Monitoring and/or auditing as required general compliance by the Company with the terms of agreements entered into by the Company (e.g. co-development agreements);
Arrow is seeking an applicant with professional qualifications in resource industry related fields (e.g geology), law or environment are preferred.
The successful applicant will hold a knowledge of appropriate compliance standards with statutory requirements relating to petroleum and mineral tenement matters. In addition, a familiarity with form and structure of commercial agreements (e.g. landholder compensation, joint venture, co-development) and appropriate management processes will be an advantage.
Experience in using geographic information packages (e.g Mapinfo) is essential.
Applicants for this role will need to be self motivated, well organised with attention to detail and adaptable, with high initiative and excellent communication skills. You will be a dedicated team player with the ability to multi task and liaise with all levels of management and staff. You will display an open, robust and cost-conscious approach to your work, with a degree of flexibility in working hours to meet varying workloads and operational demands.
Intermediate/Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc), a current and unrestricted Queensland Driver's Licence, and an aptitude to dealing with computerised data management systems is required.
