Grasp this exciting opportunity to join our innovative team of specialists! Reporting to the Manager Economic Development and Special Projects, your key responsibility will be to build and foster partnerships with local and regional business industries, various agencies across all levels of government and the local community to improve the regional economic development environment. You will also promote Tenterfield Shire Council's Operational Plan, the Council's Destination Marketing Plan and the Tourism and Economic Development Strategic Plan.

As Project Officer, you will administer and support new and contemporary projects relevant to Economic Development activities across the department. These projects are in the areas of Tourism, Major Events and Strategic Planning.

What we need from you

We are now looking for a proactive team player who can work in an agile environment. You will possess a creative streak with an economic development background, perfect for someone with experience as a journalist or Tourism Officer.

Although not essential, a tertiary qualification in commerce, economic development, marketing or business is highly desirable.

To be successful in this role, you will need to show initiative and have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the business industry, destination management, marketing and events, and the impact these components will have on regional communities.

This exciting and variable role allows you to manage projects from start to finish and work closely with the community to ensure these projects are delivered and implemented in a way that will leave a long-lasting legacy on Tenterfield Shire Council. 

It is paramount that you are an outgoing and communicative individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to develop and foster strong relationships with local Chambers of Commerce/Tenterfield Chamber of Tourism, Industry and Business stakeholders. Finally, you will need to be able to do report writing.

Before commencing work with us, you will need to undergo a Criminal History Check and a Working with Children's Check.
