We are now looking for an experienced Manager Economic Development & Special Projects to join our expanding and agile team of specialists. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to drive the ongoing development and delivery of the Council's Economic Development Strategy. You will also develop, implement and monitor economic strategies and action plans, discussion papers, evaluation framework and engagement with stakeholders and the wider community. 

As Manager Economic Development, you will also devise, implement and evaluate economic research and consultation projects to ensure Tenterfield Shire stays ahead of local, national and international economic trends, issues, opportunities and changing needs.

What we need from you

We are looking for an expert with a winning personality and an active presence in the community. 

You will possess demonstrated experience in a similar role in a Local Government Area or a commercial environment. You will also have experience managing economic development projects, such as planning, reporting and other requirements associated with external funding and projects management. Although not essential, tertiary qualifications in Economics, Economic Development, Commerce, Business or a related field is highly desirable. Previous experience working with grants is highly desirable.

This exciting and variable role allows you to be creative with your solutions to challenges in the community and think outside the box. You will also manage projects from start to finish and work closely with the community to ensure these projects are delivered and implemented in a way that will leave a long-lasting legacy on Tenterfield Shire Council. 

You will have to be adaptable and have the ability to grow capacity in different groups within the various departments of the Council. 

In addition, you will have strong leadership skills and be able to be a strong delegator.

As you will be engaging with different internal and external stakeholders in various Economic Development programs and projects, you will need to be an avid communicator with proven negotiation and interpersonal skills. 

Before commencing work with us, you will need to undergo a Criminal History Check and a Working with Children's Check.
