Established in 1978, Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service Provider in Western Australia. We have recently expanded our services, becoming an NDIS service provider, and are on the hunt for a passionate NDIS Social Worker to join our dedicated new team working with individuals in the community with disabilities and who have complex needs. This role will allow you to make a real difference in the lives of Indigenous Australians.

An Opportunity with a Difference

In this role, you will provide highly complex assistance to NDIS participants, helping them to understand what is included in the NDIS plan and supporting the development of goals to fortify their NDIS plan. You will then work with participants and connect them to suitable Disability Service Providers. You will also assist participants in crises, implement appropriate strategies, strengthen their ability to advocate for and coordinate their NDIS plans and goals, and participate in the community.

Core duties:

• Person-centred support: Understand the person-centred approach and enable participants to implement plans customised and practical.
• Specialist support coordination: Provide specialised support for participants to understand their plan, identify goals, supports and appropriate providers for complex needs.
• Innovation: Innovate approach to services to enable complex participants to blend informal, mainstream, and paid supports to achieve tailored supports.
• Reporting, documentation, and administration: Maintain updated relevant electronic records and accurate case notes, service bookings and billing information.
• Aboriginal ways of working: Demonstrate a personal understanding of working with Aboriginal clients, staff, and communities.

What you will bring to the team

To be successful, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Society of Professional Social Workers. You will also have demonstrated knowledge and previous experience working with Aboriginal communities in remote and rural settings. A proven understanding of disability services and a person-centred approach is a must!

Although not essential, previous experience working within the NDIS space is highly desirable. We’ll provide you with all the training you need to thrive in this role!

In this role, you will develop and maintain relationships with many stakeholders inside BRAMS and the broader community. These include service providers, participants, family members and other community members. As such, you will be an avid communicator with strong interpersonal skills and effectively communicate with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Please note: you will be required to complete a National Police Check, a Working with Children's Check, a National Disability Insurance Service Check and a pre-employment medical assessment. You will also be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

About the Benefits

In this role, you will receive an attractive salary circa $91,495.56 – $100,313.46 (commensurate with your skills and experience) PLUS super and generous salary packaging up to $15,000.

Additional benefits include:

• Annual airfare allowance, plus dependents;
• Six weeks annual leave;
• 17.5% leave loading, on up to 6 weeks annual leave;
