Mind - Body - Spirit: Healing families together, the Sunrise way.

Who we are

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (SHS) is a community-controlled health organisation providing services to nine individual remote communities in the eastern Katherine region.

We are an enthusiastic team dedicated to ensuring our 'sun come-up mob' continue to have access to equitable and culturally appropriate primary health care services, now and into the future. We strengthen our communities by developing sustainable primary healthcare solutions to local concerns.

One of our most recent triumphs was reaching a 98% COVID-19 immunisation rate for our children - 10% higher than the Northern Territory average.

Now is your chance to minimise chronic health conditions and positively impact our Australian and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) residents as a TeleHealth General Practitioner

What’s on the horizon

We have multiple full-time opportunities for experienced General Practitioners. As part of a collaborative team of Community GPs, you will report to a Senior Medical Officer while you:

  • Be supported by our staff on the ground to proactively provide primary health to the ATSI community
  • Facilitate the accurate and timely processing of Medicare claims to optimise our Medical Benefit Schedule claims
  • Collaborate with Nurses, Care Managers, Aboriginal health professionals, community-based workers, and Traditional Owners to enhance localised health initiatives
  • Support with the screening, surveillance, collection, collation, and reporting of vital health data
  • Passionately assist with education and public health initiatives, and
  • Grow with our Sunrise Continuous Quality Improvement program

Our next ray of light

Will bring optimism, flexibility, and a devotion to helping ATSI communities.

As a TeleHealth GP, you can work from anywhere in Australia! You'll be online, assisting high-volumes of patients in towns like Barunga, Wugularr (Beswick), Manyallaluk (Eva Valley), Bulman, Weemol, Mataranka, Jilkminggan, Minyerri, Ngukurr, and Urapunga (Rittarangu); touching base with our Katherine office in between.

Ideally, you'll be able to visit for an induction to our communities; we'd like to show you the ropes and our rich culture, and introduce you to our Traditional Owners. We collaborate actively to thrive and maintain culturally appropriate practices.

What makes you shine

  • AHPRA registration
  • Familiarity with Medicare rebates (processing &/or management skills are desirable)
  • Unrestricted Australian driver's licence
  • OCHRE card (working with children in the Northern Territory)
  • Clean criminal history check (or willingness to obtain)
  • First aid
  • A reliable internet connection

A sunrise worth waking up for

Complementing this enriching experience, you can look forward to:

  • Generous remuneration of $1300 per day PLUS
