As part of our exponential growth, we are seeking experienced Mental Health Worker (Intensive Support) who are looking for a leadership opportunity.

Your primary purpose as Mental Health Worker (Intensive Support) is to support people who experience diagnosed psychosocial disabilities and complex trauma histories. By nature, this role presents unique challenges, and equally, deeply enriching experiences. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced and confident AHPRA qualified candidate with the ability to proactively guide a number of other mental health workers in strengthening their skills and resilience. 

You will be based in our state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility Jasper House. Jasper House is a beautiful, safe and secure environment, constructed to alleviate stress and provide welcoming accommodation for high-behaviour needs. You will contribute to weekly programs that tend to participant wellbeing, creativity, and empowerment.

If that combination rings true to you, here’s what we’ll need to see:

  • Experience in mental health support + proven ability to navigate relationships with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with complex needs;
  • Familiarity working in a SIL residential setting & developed strategies for working with AOD clients + directing interventions. Whilst not essential, challenging behaviour navigation skills are highly regarded. Additionally, you’ll need to be willing to occasionally lend a hand cooking, assist with transport, provide advocacy in the community, & guide self-care;
  • Significant comprehension of NDIS support, systems, and respect for how it connects you to your clients, as well as the ability to efficiently and accurately provide relevant reports & proposals;
  • Physical fitness and psychological aptitude to sustainably pursue this role including emotional intelligence, and;
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week (flexible options include morning, night, overnight, and weekends)

Technical assets:

  • AHPRA registration + complete COVID-19 vaccination
  • Certificate IV in Community Services / Mental Health (minimum);
  • Working With Children Check; Police Check, First Aid Certificate, NDIS Worker Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate + complete, and;
  • Current, unrestricted driver’s license + own transport with a willingness to use your own vehicle if required.

Furthermore, this role involves regular liaison with affiliated services, key stakeholders, and the mental health first aid team. So a highly personable, accountable, and optimistic problem solver will succeed in this role.
