With our continued growth across the business, opportunities now exist for Fibre Technicians to join our team in key locations in Sydney and Canberra. These roles are critical to helping us realise our vision of being the first choice for communications infrastructure across Australia.

Generally, your day will consist of a variety of projects:

  • Install fibre optics and data cabling;
  • Splice, conduct terminations and testing; 
  • Trench, haul, and replace cabling. 

All your tools, a laptop, and a work vehicle will be provided to ensure you are properly equipped to tackle each day’s projects. Every day will be different meaning you may be working on one large project or across several smaller projects, so you will enjoy variety across your workload.

On top of that, materials will generally be delivered to you on-site. Say goodbye to regular supply runs!

Successful Attributes 

To succeed in this role you need experience in optical fibre splicing with a proven track record of success across a variety of projects. 

You will be solution-orientated with a passion for delivering high standard, quality work with a strong level of accuracy in your documentation. 

Technical Essentials: 

  • A valid state driver’s license + Construction Industry White Card + Open Cable License; 
  • Previous experience with splicing equipment less than 5 years old i.e Sumitomo, Fujikura, Fitel;
  • Previous experience with testing equipment less than 5 years old i.e. VIAVI JDSU - MTS400 & EXFO FTB-2 Pro or similar;
  • Endorsements in fibre optics and testing

Other Experience:

  • Working on live carrier fibre networks and existing live FTPs/joints; 
  • Experience with large core count terminations and joint enclosures; 
  • Whilst not essential, experience working on major carrier projects is highly favourable.
