BirdLife Australia is a national, grassroots charity with over 220,000 supporters. For over a century, we have been the voice of Australia’s birdlife, from protecting birds and their habitats to on-ground projects and advocacy informed by rigorous science. Our core programs adopt a multi-species landscape-scale approach to conservation, including beach-nesting shorebirds, woodland birds, mallee birds and globally critical habitats, which we call Key Biodiversity Areas.
We are embarking on an exciting journey of transformational change with a new Bird Conservation Strategy (2022 – 2032). Our organisational effectiveness strategy is a key enabling strategy to ensure BirdLife can reach its full potential for impact and deliver the Bird Conservation Strategy priorities.
As part of our broader strategy, we are looking for a full-time ICT Manager to join our team in Melbourne and lead the implementation of BirdLife’s ICT strategic plan. This position is a three-year fixed-term contract.
Your next opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Organisational Effectiveness, you will plan and manage the information communications technology and digital transformation programs outlined in our ICT Strategic Plan.
Your core duties will fall within the following areas:
- ICT strategy
- ICT Digital Transformation Program
- Program delivery
- Team leadership
About you
This is a dynamic opportunity for a solutions-driven and results-focused ICT professional who possess a Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Business and Informational Systems, or relevant and a minimum of five years’ experience in a project management capacity, including the development and execution of ICT projects and programs. Experience with and strong knowledge of Salesforce and/or Salesforce development is also essential.
You will also have demonstrated experience and understanding of business solutions, including CRMs, business, digital web technology and document management. Although not required, previous experience in not-for-profit organisations will be highly regarded.
Importantly, you will be a proactive and energetic individual with a hands-on approach and the ability to perform both day-to-day operational tasks and have the skills to manage and mentor a small but hardworking team of ICT professionals. As a leader, it is paramount that you are able to work well as part of a team and be able to drive change and perpetuate a respectful and trusting work environment.
Moreover, this role requires you to have strong interpersonal skills and be able to effectively engage and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and deliver on the organisation’s strategic ICT plan.

This role comes with an attractive salary circa $90,000 – $110,000 (dependent on skills and experience) plus 10% super. You will also enjoy great benefits, including additional special leave entitlements, 17.5% leave loading and flexible working arrangements.
