We now have a unique full-time opportunity for an Accommodation Officer to join us on stunning Lizard Island, QLD, so we can ensure that the cleanliness of the research station and the comfort of our visitors is maintained.
Your role
Upon taking up this once in a lifetime Accommodation Officer opportunity you will be responsible for preparing visitor accommodation, laboratories, and the other areas for visitor arrivals and providing airstrip transfers.
Your core duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Clean and prepare accommodation, laboratories, and communal areas
- Maintain cleanliness in occupied visitor spaces by servicing regularly and ensuring that visitors do their share of cleaning as required
- Transport visitors, freight and mail to and from the airstrip as required
- Maintain stocks of cleaning supplies, shop merchandise and other supplies as directed
- Undertake duties associated with barge loading and unloading
What you must bring
To be successful it will be imperative that you are in possession of a a current drivers license and the ability to drive a manual 4WD vehicle on a sandy track. It is also essential that you are physically fit with the ability to perform strenuous manual work.
Most importantly, it is crucial that you have the ability to work autonomously and also together with other colleagues. Within the role, close working relationships will exist between the Research Station's Directors and also the Maintenance Officer. Being on a small island it is imperative that you have the ability to cooperate with fellow colleagues. Additionally, you will be an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn about life on the island. What's not to love!
