About the Organisation 

Marine Rescue NSW (MRNSW) is an essential emergency service and protects the NSW community by providing marine search and rescue response, monitoring, responding to marine radio communications, and delivering safety education programs.

The heart of MRNSW is more than 3,000 active volunteer members, organised into 45 geographic units. We work with other emergency services, particularly the NSW Police Force, and promote boating and water safety through community events, education, and engagement activities. 

About the Opportunity 

MRNSW now has an exciting opportunity for a Zone Training Manager to join their teams on the South NSW Coast.

The Zone Training Manager reports to the Zone Commander and works closely with the MRNSW Training and Education team to deliver and evaluate training and capability development strategies. Your primary objective will be to build up commanders, trainers, and assessors with zone-specific approaches. 

Some of your core duties include (but are not limited to): 

  • Proactively assess, develop, and update training materials and resources;
  • Use initiative to analyse capability gaps in the different zones, prioritising solutions in weak areas;
  • Deliver engaging training sessions to a variety of staff and volunteers to best equip our workforce, maintaining flexibility to help out wherever required;
  • Communicate clearly and personably via verbal and written stories, manuals, and interactions. Implement appropriate safety and inclusion measures.

About You

You are flexible, proactive, and ready to be anywhere, anytime. You are safety and progress-driven, with strong interpersonal skills - able to achieve goals both autonomously and collaboratively.

We are looking for the following experience and qualifications: 

  • A certificate IV (or equivalent) in training, marine/maritime or similar, ideally with operational accreditation in emergency services;
  • Familiarity with Marine Rescue NSW (or similar) functions, safety, and equipment;
  • Experience delivering dynamic training and assessment to diverse demographics;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining and manoeuvring technical equipment i.e. boats and GPS systems;
  • The ability to demonstrate complex time management, rationally approach pressured decision making, and critical process development skills. 

Additionally, you will need to be familiar with developing training for regulation and compliance frameworks.
