What you'll do
As a Trainer/Assessor you will develop and deliver training and assessment in either literacy and numeracy, community services or retail. You will be delivering training to learners often undertaking structured learning for the first time since leaving school.
Role specifics:
- Provide onsite and online workplace training of nationally accredited courses;
- Conduct language, literacy and numeracy assesments;
- Mentor, coach and guide students in person when in remote communities; and
- Maintain electronic student management records
It is important to note that you will be based out of Darwin, travelling to outreach locations 2 weeks of every month. This means you will have the opportunity to see remote coastal communities that most people never get the opportunity to see!

What you need to be successful
While not essential, a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment will be highly regarded. What is considered essential is a passion for mentoring and supporting people, gained by some level of experience being a team leader or mentoring others.
This opportunity is all about having the right attitude and drive to help. Strong communication and listening skills will be essential for your success in this role. You will also work closely and manage relationships with employers and participants where cultural norms may differ from yours.
It will be essential to have the confidence and resilience to work in what can often be an undeniably a challenging environment. You will need to be flexible and adaptable and willing to treat every day as an adventure as well as handling remote conditions such as heat, dust and dirt.
