About the Organisation
The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust is an Australian Government agency within the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts portfolio. The organisation was set up by the Australian Government to plan for the future of former Defence and special Commonwealth lands around Sydney Harbour. These lands have been hidden away from the community for many years, but will now be conserved for the benefit of present and future generations of Australians. The lands are not to be sold and will remain in public ownership forever.
The Harbour Trust wants to create something truly special for these lands - to enhance the harbour and leave a lasting legacy for Sydney. The lands provide an amazing opportunity; they contain historic buildings and areas of pristine natural vegetation, magnificent views of the harbour and a record of our city's Aboriginal, maritime and defence heritage. The cultural heritage of the lands will be conserved, the environment protected and maximum public access provided.

About the Opportunity
The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust is seeking an experienced full time Accommodation Manager to join their team.
Cockatoo Island is Sydney Harbour's largest island only eight minutes by ferry from Circular Quay. Managed by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, the island is a former convict prison and shipyard and an increasingly popular tourist and event destination. A pending UNESCO World Heritage listing for the island is likely to further increase the island's appeal.
Anchoring this growth is a 100-site campground with pre-erected tents and first class amenities as well as two heritage houses available for holiday letting. A further three heritage accommodation units and a new and exciting island accommodation concept is planned for 2010. Opened only in March 2008, Cockatoo Island Camping was a finalist in the Unique Accommodation category of the 2009 NSW Tourism Awards.
The successful candidate will manage and grow this fascinating combination of accommodation products. Maintaining existing high customer satisfaction levels will be your first priority.
You will be comfortable in working across a range of accommodation disciplines including front desk management, RMS-based online bookings, financial reporting and site operations. Building and servicing the island's growing corporate, school and event client base will be an important focus.
Previous experience in running a hotel, motel, tourist park or campground is essential, as are a strong customer focus, a team-oriented work style, integrity and excellent communication skills. Island-based accommodation is available if required.
