About the Organisation
Murrayville Community College is a Prep to Year 12 school situated in an attractive setting in the rural township of Murrayville, close to the South Australian border in the north west of the state. The College serves the town of Murrayville and the large surrounding area and forms an important part of the social and economic life of the town.
With 25 teaching and non teaching staff, the school is very well appointed and provides an excellent educational environment and resources for its students. This includes excellent facilities for teaching technology, agriculture and horticulture. The school is an RTO in Agriculture and Sport & Recreation, teaching both VET and VCAL courses.

About Murrayville
Murrayville is located 110km west of Ouyen, 210km from Mildura, 565km from Melbourne and 276km from Adelaide, 16km inside the Victoria/South Australia border. It has a population in the order of 600 along with the district of Pinnaroo in South Australia, which has a population of around 1400.
The area is essentially a wheat and sheep farming region with a substantial and increasing in diversifying agricultural economic base. It has all the usual facilities including a community health centre, hospital 25 minutes away in Pinnaroo, an airstrip 20 minutes away, supermarket, takeway food store, general clothing store, newsagency and child care facilities etc.
Murrayville also has a big interest in sport with a football club in winter, cricket and tennis and netball, as well as a performing arts group that puts on regular plays!
About the Opportunity
If you're looking to pass on your valuable knowledge to the next generation, Murrayville Community College is looking for an innovative Music Teacher to join its ranks.
The primary aim of this role is delivery of the music curriculum within the parameters of the Victorian Educational Learning Standards.
More specifically, some of the day-to day responsibilities will include:
- Following the timetable and delivery of an elective programme to students;
- Five x one hour long sessions (minimum time with groups of students is one hour, sometimes two) per day;
- Lesson preparation;
- Assessment of student work;
- Professional learning on the job - attending meetings where professional development may be delivered; and
- Periodic extras like yard duty or covering additional classes if another teacher is away.
Murrayville Community College is interested in receiving applications from both graduates and experienced Music Teachers. The successful candidate will have a university level teacher qualification that includes music, be registered through the Victorian Institute of Teachers (or have eligibility for) and have a Working with Children Check.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will be innovative in their approach to teaching music, working both within the curriculum and having the freedom to put music 'out there in performance'. You will be adaptable and able to work with primary and secondary ages and have great communication and marketing skills to get the music program noticed within the school! It is also desirable that you will have instrumental skills.
