Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation.
Our health centres service nine communities spread over 45,000 square kilometres in the Roper River region. The Sunrise footprint covers Aboriginal communities that have some of the most untouched beautiful landscapes to explore where the locals are welcoming and ready to share their culture.
We now have a rewarding opportunity for Mental Health professionals, including to join our team in Katherine and help us make a real difference in the lives of remote communities in the Northern Territory.

This role comes with an attractive salary circa $107,000 (based on your skills and experience) and salary packaging options up to $15,899 per annum. You will also have access to fantastic benefits including:
- 6 weeks leave per year;

- Remote allowance; and
- Travel allowance (when working away from base location, Katherine).

Your next opportunity
Your key responsibility in this role will be to provide expert support to clients requiring mental health care, and their families. You will promote social and emotional wellbeing, early detection of mental illness, activities for prevention of self-harm, suicide and self-esteem issues.
Core duties:
- Inform and educate others on issues that relate to mental health and social and emotional wellbeing;
- Conduct mental health screening of all community members and refer at-risk patients for early management;
- Follow-up on at-risk patients;
- Provide Mental Health Prevention and Care Services to patients of all ages;
- Assist in the case management, coordination and decision-making for clients requiring mental health care;
- Lead an integrated approach to the delivery of mental health services and actively promote mental health awareness and primary prevention; and
- Implement and promote evidence-based standards and policies.
You will also promote excellence in clinical standards and quality of care throughout our organisation.

What you will bring to the team
To thrive in this role, you will have a Bachelor of Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or equivalent. You will be accredited with AHPRA or the AASW and possess a post-graduate qualification in Mental Health.
As our new Mental Health professional, you will have the following experience and knowledge:
- Previous experience working in Mental Health;
- Cultural understanding;
- Working effectively with disenfranchised communities and in bilingual settings; and
- Recovery Frameworks and different types of therapies.
Although not essential, previous experience working in a remote setting is highly regarded.
You will be a proactive and empathetic individual who is able to work holistically and effectively incorporate evidence-based practice and frameworks into their day-to-day work.
Your well-developed interpersonal skills will enable you to communicate and work collaboratively with your team members in an effective manner.
