Tropicair is PNG’s premier Aviation charter company with a modern fleet of King Airs, Grand Caravans, Twin Otters and a Cessna Citation CJ3. We service a vast array of destinations throughout the PNG mainland, the New Guinea Islands and internationally.
We are experiencing a period of growth and have an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our dedicated professional team at Jackson International Airport in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This vital role will see the successful candidate responsible for the organisation's strategic development as we take advantage of the opportunities for growth within the Papua New Guinea market.

As the Commercial Manager, you will join our organisation during a period of significant growth, where there are significant opportunities within the marketplace, with new tenders available. With demonstrated experience in the aviation industry and a can do attitude, you will be provided with an attractive salary package, circa $180,000. How you will pilot the organisation
Reporting to the CEO, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for driving the business and building and maintaining relationships with important stakeholders, including government departments, mining companies and other significant commercial operations. You will also drive a culture of safety within the organisation, ensuring our standards meet all legislative and regulatory requirements. The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that aircraft and pilots are matched to meet the requirements of individual contracts and the airstrips that you will be operating into and out of
- Development of new opportunities and maintenance of existing partnerships
- Financial and operational planning and development
- Project management of company projects
This role will require an understanding of the charter aviation industry and the specific requirements of the cliental.
How you will make a safe landing
To be successful in this role, you will bring significant demonstrated experience in the charter aviation industry, preferably from Australia, New Zealand or Canada. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will understand the need to develop strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including government departments and mining companies.
Your problem-solving and analytical skills will enable you to see the opportunities within the market and how to develop effective strategic plans to take advantage of these. Similarly, your leadership and project management skills will enable you to bring the team along with you and ensure that the plans developed can be implemented effectively.
Finally, you will have an understanding of the capacity of the aircraft within the fleet and where they will be able to operate. You will also understand the regulations and legislation surrounding the aviation industry and how to ensure a charter aviation organisation can meet these effectively.
