The salary on offer for this position is circa $115K-$125K including superannuation

Relocation assistance will also be provided if you are moving to Mackay - including a one-off payment to contribute towards moving costs, assistance with housing for your first 1-2 months whilst you settle in, and a budget for trips back home if required.

Our new Environmental Advisor Opportunity

We're on the lookout for an Environmental Advisor to join the team, working from the Corporate Office at Racecourse, Mackay

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Environmental Advisor is responsible for providing practical support and environmental advice to the HSE Manager, Business Unit Managers and HSE Team to ensure Mackay Sugar complies with (or surpasses) its environmental obligations and license conditions.

Some of your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Ensure environmental objectives are achieved by providing leadership that establishes a strong commitment to safety and the environment.
  • Assist Business Unit Managers and employees to comply with relevant statutory requirements and other environment obligations by facilitating the development and implementation of the EMS into whole-of-business activities conducted by Mackay Sugar. 
  • Oversee compliance with regards to AS/NZS ISO 14001, Integrated Environmental Management System (IEMS), Approvals/Permits, Transitional Environmental Programs (TEP) and relevant legislation.
  • Promote awareness of environmental responsibilities and obligations to all employees by the development and delivery of environmental training for all levels of the workforce.
  • Evaluate the report on Mackay Sugar’s environmental compliance and performance by establishing a suitable and timely internal and external audit process.

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or equivalent and will have experience in a similar role (ideally involving water management and air emissions). 

You'll have a demonstrated knowledge of legislation relevant to environmental management of industrial activities, AS/NZS 4801, 14001 and 9001, and experience in auditing processes.

You'll also require a current driver's licence. 

In terms of personal attributes, we're looking for someone with a strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental standards. You'll be working with a variety of stakeholders so you'll need well developed people skills, a customer-service attitude, and strong networking skills.

We're also seeking someone who is highly organised, and is a great problem-solver.
