About the Opportunity

BWAHS is growing, and as a result, an exciting opportunity has opened for Male Case Support Workers to join the team. This position is open to people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and the position will be based within the men’s family violence services team.

In the men’s team the Case Support Worker will work with the men’s family violence case managers to work collaboratively as a member of the Men’s case management team to provide culturally safe support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and families who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, family violence.

Some of your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist with intake processes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men and families when they are referred to BWAHS
  • Maintain records including case notes, reports, plans and statistics within required timelines
  • Facilitate referrals to other ACCOs and/or mainstream agencies such as mental health, housing, alcohol and other drug services, and community services
  • Participate in regular network meetings, working groups and forums relevant to the work of BWAHS
  • Attend appointments and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men and their families
  • Build and develop networks with community services, family violence services and ACCO’s.
  • Participate in regular clinical and internal supervision, reflective practice and case plan reviews.
  • Undertake training as required, as identified through a professional training needs plan.

 

As well as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, we're looking for someone who has experience, either lived or professional, with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Who has an interest in working in family violence and is willing to learn, grow and develop their skills in this field.

You'll need a current Victorian Driver's License, as well as a willingness to obtain a Police Check, Working with Children's Check, completed record of vaccination and a first aid certificate or willingness to obtain.
